VERTEBRAE CHAIR

Practice: Brillhart Architecture

Type: Furniture

Location: n/a

Status: Completed, 2010

The vertebrae chair explores the anthropomorphic synergy of the human body’s structure and its continued motion. The dimensions of the chair’s spine directly relate to the vertebra and its wooden ribs gently flex to accommodate human nuance and variability. The spine and each rib slightly vary in thickness and weight to save on material and maximize efficiency. The design and construction of the chair continually engage both analog and digital media of hand drawing, Revit, Autocad and laser cutting technologies.
